Instructions and advice for application:

-
The first time you use your testosterone gel, the information leaflet will typically instruct you to depress the dispenser a certain amount of times in order to reach the point where it is dispensing correct doses, as at first only a little may come out and it takes a few presses to fill the dispenser with sufficient gel to provide
-
Press the dispenser all the way down, collecting the gel in your other palm.
-
Your doctor will tell you how many squirts of gel you should apply, so repeat as many times as instructed.
-
-
Wherever you are applying the gel, first ensure the area is clean, dry and the skin is unbroken.
-
Different gels will instruct you to apply the gel in different areas, typically either the upper arms or thighs, but occasionally they may also offer the option to apply to the abdomen.
-
However, within the trans community, many people feel you can apply any gel to your upper arms or thighs, and have had success applying it to their thighs when this was not in their gel’s instructions.
-
Despite doctors and instruction leaflets commonly stating that the gel won’t have any localised effects, many trans people report that this is not true and it will cause minor localised hair growth.
-
Therefore, if you are concerned about growing longer, darker hair on your biceps, you may want to consider applying to your thighs instead.
-
If you are doing two or more pumps and applying to your biceps, apply half of the gel to each bicep.
-
Similarly, if you feel one inner thigh isn’t big enough to allow you to spread the gel fairly thin, apply half the gel to each thigh.
-
-
After applying the gel, wash your hands immediately to avoid any potential transference to another person.
-
Wait until the gel is completely dry before putting on any clothes or getting into bed. This should usually only take 2-10 minutes.
-
After application and until you have next showered, don’t let the skin where you applied gel touch anyone who has an oestrogen-dominant body. Otherwise it may have a build up effect over time and lead to unwanted testosterone effects on their body.
-
The time you will need to wait before showering, bathing, swimming or doing anything else that could wash off the T can vary from 2-5 hours depending on the brand of T-gel you have been prescribed. So be sure to read the instruction leaflet carefully to ensure you wait the correct amount of time.
